EARTH PRESSURE BALANCED SHIELD MACHINE
This type of machine improves soil by mechanically agitating and mixing soil and the additive, which have been pressure injected into the cutter face, using cutters and other devices.
This improved soil is filled between the cutting face and the shield bulkhead, and pressurized by the propulsion force of the shield.
This type of machine can be used for various types of ground condition,
as propulsion is performed by applying this earth pressure to the entire face in order to achieve stability of the face, while allowing for adjustment of discharged muck volume by the screw conveyor.
1.Cutter bit
This is a part for cutting ground. It is necessary for the appropriate shapes and materials for the ground conditions to be selected.
2. Agitator beam
This is a device for improving the mixing of excavated ground with additives, and increasing the fluidity of the ground and watertightness.
3. Cutter drive unit
This unit consists of motors and a gear in order to rotate the cutter head.
4. Articulation cylinder
This is a device that provides support for curve negotiation by making an angle at the joint between some bodies of shield machine.
5. Erector
This is a device for erecting the segment by gripping the piece and bringing it to the erecting position. Multiple actuators are equipped in order to rotate and move forwards/backwards and in the radial direction.
6. Rear scaffold
This is a scaffold for worker to stand on in order to erect the segment.
7. Segment reforming device
This is a piece of equipment to maintain the roundness of the erected segment by extending it from inner side.
8. Tail seal
This is a device that prevents the intrusion of ground water and soil into the machine by sealing the gap between the shield machine and segment.
9. Screw conveyor
This is a piece of equipment for discharging the excavated ground taken in the chamber by rotating the spiral shape blade.
10. Thrust cylinder
This is a device to propel the shield machine by obtaining the reaction force from the segment erected by erector.
11. Cutter chamber
This is a room in order to keep ground excavated by the cutter head.
12. Cutter head
This is a device equipped with a cuter bit and excavates ground. Generally, a spoke type is applied in order to efficiently take the ground in.
